Baritone Ukulele   boondock

2021 Sold

Matthew contacted me about building him a baritone ukulele or ubass inspired by a boat he had called the Boondock. His love for everything nautical brought him to me for the nautilus shape. He still had wood from the Boondock and some blueprints and sent them to me. The iron wood made for a great fingerboard and other bits. I cleaned the wood up, but also tried to maintain some of the aged characteristics. He decided on the baritone, but after receiving it he decided he wanted the ubass as well.

I had enough of the Boondocks wood to do both fingerboards.

I also did some pyrography of the Boondock.

Needles to say these instruments were a great example of what a great experience making handmade instruments can be. Matthew recently reached out to me and told me how much he is still loving his instruments.
